The other possibility is: do you have an external drive (eg USB or even SD) plugged in? DriveDx will give you much more details SMART info (including an aggressive disk test).
MACOS BIG SUR 11.5.2 TRIAL
I believe it gives you a week of free trial (and I'm happy to have bought it). running Disk Utility (at least validate that there's not a file system error, and look at Disk First Aid's very minimal SMART status) Presumably you have an SSD, but macOS is still, uh, "immature", when it comes to handling unexpected IO errors, and while SSDs are better than HDs, they're not magic technology with zero ever bad sectors or pages.Īlong with all the other tests you've made, I'd try In the past when I have had this sort of behavior, it boils down to a bad hard drive - a dodgy sector, and macOS falling apart when it tries to read from it. You've run a memory test I assume? Does something like a benchmarking app also crash it?

Hope this fixes it since I don’t want it to be a pricey hardware solution. Not sure what it is since iMovie or chrome crashes the system.
MACOS BIG SUR 11.5.2 PRO
I have a 16” MacBook Pro with 64 gb or ram and it’s constantly crashing. Though I suspect you're just asking questions, and telling us what folks are saying and that you're hearing that a lot, and doesn't it seem suspicious? That's been "just a matter of time" now for 11 years - around 30% as long as the Macintosh has existed.
MACOS BIG SUR 11.5.2 SOFTWARE
Sure, and any day now Apple is going to require that all macOS software be distributed through its App Store. This is the exact argument against that whole thing. If you're gonna be Big Brother, why take a half measure? I'm just pointing out that limiting this activity to only things that get uploaded (and only to iOS) makes no sense. The seemingly mindnumbing acceptence for totalitarianism we saw in 2016 doesn't seem to limited to just MAGAs. 7 days to go from "wow they are allowing a 3rd party agency with tight connections to law enforcement to scan every photo I might upload to the cloud" to "hopefully they scan everything, I could be a terrorist!". The bigger oversight is limiting it to iCloud content. Makes no sense to go through that much effort to prevent it getting to icloud on iphone and simply allow a workaround on MacOS I imagine they will deploy it to MacOS soon too.

Its almost like they want the children to be victimized.ĬSAM scanning is only on iPhone and iPad but some of the other child safety stuff is also on macOS like filtering explicit images inside Messages.app. MacOS Big Sur 11.5.Do we have any knowledge of Apples intentions to add scanning of local files for things third parties deem undesirable, or at least local files staged for icloud? It seems odd they would limit their world class child porn detection tools to phones. This will facilitate new ways of controlling macOS and iPad devices together with the same mouse and keyboard.
MACOS BIG SUR 11.5.2 MAC
We probably won't see significant new macOS features until macOS Monterey arrives later this year.Īmong other things, that major upcoming release is expected to include various new ways to integrate a Mac with an iOS or iPadOS device, like Universal Control. MacOS 11.5.2 follows macOS 11.5.1 (which contained security updates) and macOS 11.5 (which also consisted largely of-you guessed it-bug fixes and security updates). Today also saw major new beta releases of iOS 15, watchOS 8, macOS Monterey, and more. While Apple often (but not always) releases software updates for many or all of its platforms at the same time, macOS was alone today-at least in terms of public releases.
MACOS BIG SUR 11.5.2 UPDATE
"This update has no published CVE entries," it says. Apple maintains a support page where it details the security updates within a given release, too. MacOS 11.5.2 includes bug fixes for your Mac.Īs you can see, the release notes do not specify which bugs have been fixed and mention no new features. Rather, macOS 11.5.2 focuses on "bug fixes." In fact, these are Apple's release notes for the latest version of Big Sur, in their entirety: The new update is labeled macOS Big Sur 11.5.2, but there aren't any new features or major security updates. Today, Apple released a new version of its Mac operating system, macOS Big Sur.
